Open Space Walks
The committee sponsors walks throughout the year to explore Upton’s many exceptional natural areas and landscapes. For all hikes and events, we ask that you dress for the weather and wear appropriate footgear. All ages are welcome. Liability waiver is required for hikes. There is no charge. Walk Scheduled for August 28th....
Join Friends of Upton State Forest and Upton Open Space Committee for a free Discovery Hike on Sunday, August 28 at Upton State Forest. There will be a half hour orientation about letterboxing at 1PM followed by a hike to discover The CCC Legacy letterbox series. Follow the footsteps of the CCC as you discover this interesting sport and learn about the history of the Civilian Conservation Corps.
Meet at 1 PM, at the Headquarters building near the intersection of Westborough and Southborough Roads in Upton. GPS address is 205 Westborough Road. Dress for the weather and remember water, sunscreen and insect repellant. Liability waiver required for all, with a parent accompanying and signing for anyone under 18. As a courtesy to those who may be allergic to, or fearful of dogs, kindly leave pets at home. Heavy rain, high wind or threat of thunderstorms cancels. This is a moderate, two to three hour hike with uneven terrain and some hills. A short option will be offered. For reminders, or a cancellation notice, email uptonopenspaceevents@charter.net.
