The Upton Conservation Commission was established by the voters of the Town to promote the preservation of the Town's natural resources.  It is an appointed committee by the Upton Board of Selectmen.  Their responsibilities include reviewing projects that could affect the Town's wetlands resource areas under the authority of the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act (MGL Ch 131, Sec 40) in coopreration with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection.  It also carries an open space planning, conservation education and public awareness.

The Town of Upton approved a Wetland Bylaw in May 2004.  Click here to review the bylaw.

The Conservation Commission is charged with reviewing constrcution, or other issues, that may potentially impact wetland areas.  If you are unsure if your project needs a filing with the Conservation Commission, please contact the admininstative office for assistance.

Regular meetings of the Conservation Commission are held at Nipmuc Regional Middle/High Shool on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month starting at 7:30 pm.  Regularly scheduled Wednesday nights meetings are open to the public.  Anyone interested is encouraged to attend and participate.
