CREATURES OF THE NIGHT

An Evening of Moth Observations

and Southborough Roads in Upton
 
     As part of our Discovery series Friends of Upton State Forest and Upton Open Space Committee will co-host Mark Mello, director of research at the Lloyd Center for Environmental Studies in Dartmouth, MA. He will give us a fascinating look at the fluttering creatures that are drawn to porch lights and campfires.
      We will be meeting at the historic CCC Camp at Upton State Forest. Join us for refreshments at 6:30 PM followed by the program at 7:00 PM. The public is welcome for both refreshments and the free program. All ages are welcome to this wheelchair accessible event. There are no restroom facilities available. We suggest bringing a magnifying glass.

The Open Space Committee has completed a draft update of the Town's Open Space and Recreation Plan. The plan describes the town's natural resources, provides an inventory of open space and recreational facilities, sets goals, and provides an action plan for the next 5 years. Hard copies

of the draft report are available in the Town Clerk's office and the Upton Library for public review. Written comments will be accepted until February
17th and may be submitted to Upton Open Space Committee, 2 Grove St 2nd Floor of Knowlton Risteen Building PO Box 516 Upton, MA 01568 or by email to
mpenko@charter.net.  A public meeting to discuss the plan will be held on January 21st at 7.30 in the Professional Development Center at Nipmuc High. Upton residents are encouraged to attend and offer input.
