Upton's 275th Anniversary Parade Sunday, June 13, 2010 12:00 pm - Main Street As part of Upton's year long 275th Anniversary, the town will be celebrating with a parade on Sunday, June 13, 2010 at Noon, rain or shine. The parade will start at Merriam Way and Main Street, Rt. 140 and will continue south ending at the Upton VFW Building. Streets leading to the parade route will be blocked starting at 11:30 a.m. and will reopen after the parade goes through. There is offsite parking at various local schools and handicapped assessable parking at designated spots along the parade route. There will be marching bands, floats, antique cars and tractors, school groups, fire trucks, and state and local dignitaries. The Melha Shriners from Springfield and the Worcester County Shrine Club are scheduled to participate. The Shriners appear in parades as a fund raising activity and use these funds for the well-appreciated hospital services they provide. They bring with them additional bands as well as go carts, mini scooters, clowns & vintage autos. COME ONE, COME ALL to this festive celebration!! It is a FREE event! The exhibits will be open on Saturday, June 12, from 10am through 8pm and on Sunday, June 13, from 10am-Noon and 2pm-6pm. The exhibit concludes on the actual date of Upton's incorporation, Monday, June 14, from 10am through 2pm. There will be exhibits from many of the town's organizations, slide shows, interviews, historic presentations, antique clothing, and on Saturday at 1pm there will be a walking tour around historic downtown Upton. All events are FREE! Come and take part in what will be a very unique glimpse into Upton's history. Also on Saturday, June 12th at noon, the drawing for the three winners in the 275th Anniversary 7 Days of Dining raffle will take place.
The culminating event of Upton's 275th Anniversary celebration will be a fireworks display scheduled for Saturday, June 26, sponsored by the Upton Men's Club. For more information on this event, visit their website: www.uptonmensclub.org
CONESTOGA WAGON REPLICA AUCTION
The covered wagon replica located in front of the Town Hall will be auctioned off in its “as is” condition through sealed bids. The wagon measures 7' long, 4' wide, and 6' high. The starting bid is $100, and the winner will be notified on Monday, June 28th. The winning bidder must remove the wagon no later than Friday, July 2nd.
Those wishing to submit a sealed bid can send their bids to the Upton Town Clerk's Office, 1 Main Street, Upton, MA 01568. The wagon was donated to the Town by the Birdsey family and was used during the past months to showcase event announcements for the 275th Celebration.

As you may be aware, the Town of Upton will be celebrating its 275th Anniversary on June 14, 2010. To commerate this occasion, a commitee has been formed and organizing activities beginning in September 2009.
